In ihrer seit 2002 bestehenden Zusammenarbeit teilen Bertoncini und Lehn das Interesse an einem erweiterten Begriff der Neuen Musik, der Improvisation, Komposition, Interpretation und Performance gleichermaßen umfasst. Ihre Musik bewegt sich in abstrakten, zeitgenössischen Territorien und wird dabei von klassischer Dramaturgie getragen: Spannung und Entspannung, Brüche, Intensität und Ausdruckskraft formen ihr klangliches Vokabular.
L’Oriole
L’oriole mixes the string colors from the violin and cello with a timbral mechanism made of transducers set on sounding bodies. The sound of the acoustic instruments vibrates through different materials, offering new possibilities of colors and textures drawn from these suspended resonators. Eery and acute, the music thus flutters in long contemplative flights and sometimes condensate in clouds of screams and raw materials.

TRANSCRIPTIONS OF MY PIANO STUDENTS’ PLAYING
is a solo piano project based on recordings of my students playing familiar melodies, often with rhythmic slips, wrong notes, and hesitations. I transcribed and perform these versions faithfully, treating mistakes as compositional material. The project explores learning, memory, and the tension between the familiar and the unexpected.

Ana Kravanja, Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka and Yvonne Hofmeister have been meeting and collaborating individually in different settings before performing here for the first time as a trio. Their common musical interests are a playful research in sound, vocal and instrumental expression. In their encounter they look for connections between each of their musical languages and explore the borders between instrumentality and vocality in free improvisation.
