S A R R A M
S A R R A M is the solo project of the sardinian Valerio Marras which combines elements of drone/ambient, postrock and doom.
The debut album “A Bolu, in C” (Talk About Records, 2017) of this ambient musician coming from Nuoro is composed by a one side – everlasting track – of 37 minutes all played by one guitar that improvises an harmonic journey moving through the exploration of different scales, surrounded by an electric, ethereal drone soundscape.
“Four Movements Of A Shade” (Midira Records,2018) is the second solo album by S A R R A M. It features four haunting tracks, that move through different genres like drone, ambient, doom and somehow minimal post-rock, played with just a guitar and some synths. The idea behind that album was to go to the studio without having tracks: just an idea and the mood S A R R A M had in mind to play an improvisational session. The result was turned out as a very dark and intense soundjourney.
“Silenzio” has been recorded and mixed during the lockdown due to the covid19 pandemic.
Every sound has been created, sampled, converted, destroyed and rebuilt in S A R R A M’s house in Nuoro – Sardegna.
The record counts eight witnesses – Thomas Malotin, Elaheh Mohammadbaghban, Gabriele Gasparotti, Diego Pani, Daniele Borri, Dimitrios Kaitsis, Giona Vinti, Sarah Kristof – concerning the experiences of this historical period, which includes thoughts in Czech, Farsi (Persian), Sardo (Sardinian language), German recorded in the United States, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy.
Artwork by the artist Paolo “Animamundi” Sanna; the birds on the cover represents the nature that has taken over its spaces when humanity had to stop.
Mastering by Nicola Olla at Blacktooth Studio, already behind the mixer for “A Bolu, in C” (Talk about records) and “Four Movements of a Shade” (Midira records).
Spoken words, drone music, sound design, field recording, ambient music, electronica, all together in 40 minutes of music.
