Moving Score – A Ride Becomes Music – 田んぼの少女 meets Improvisation
A bicycle ride. For one hour.
Along fields, railway lines, and edges.
The camera follows – and the microphone hears everything.
No commentary, no music. Just motion, landscape, wind.
The video works are by the girl from the rice fields (田んぼの少女) – a poetic pseudonym under which she documents everyday rides through rural peripheries (YouTube: Boredom is a Privilege).
These recordings serve as a moving score for the evening:
an improvised response to what is seen and heard – an interplay of image, sound, and present attention.
The evening brings together Alyona Pynzenyk and Petra Sottová – both part of a multi-day mountain improvisation project last summer – with two musicians from Graz, forming a new constellation for this unique context.
The original project, initiated by Alyona, explored improvisation not only as musical practice but as shared time, space, and process.
Who exactly meets whom, and what will happen between sound and image, remains open.
Improvisation means working with what is there – in the moment, in the space, in uncertainty.
What unfolds on this evening cannot be fully announced.
Only this: it will not be a concert in the classical sense.
But rather an encounter with an image – and what it provokes.
Perhaps music. Perhaps something in between.
