CORRIDOR

Annabelle PLAYE – Electronic Live
Corridor, from the Italian corridore, meaning “narrow passage between one room and another,”
or “couloir,” a place where one runs, derived from correre, meaning “to run.”

This solo combines different musical genres: ambient, experimental, electronic, and noise. Composed and performed using an electronic set: modular synthesizers, samplers and effects.
The corridor is a space “in between,” a suspension of time, a time that is not counted. There is activity, the density of life, and there are these strange, timeless crossings. This passage between two places, two states, two ways of life, this crossing into the unexpected transforms us in invisible and unsuspected ways. Whether intimate or humanitarian, the corridor oscillates between introspection and rebirth. In my opinion, music is the most suitable medium for exploring the CORRIDOR…
Corridor, a defined passageway in which landmarks fluctuate. What do we experience in the corridor? What happens when we walk from one point to another? What becomes of our certainties and beliefs?

CORRIDOR explores a liminal soundscape: dense layers and vibrating drones mingle with grainy textures and bursts of noise that disrupt continuity. Muffled pulsations and abrupt breaks sculpt time, alternating between hypnotic immersion and sudden surges of tension. The writing favors materiality – frequencies, saturations, silences – to offer a physical experience. At the crossroads of experimental electronics, drone, and noise, the music invites confrontation, deceleration, or, on the contrary, submersion. A sound space that transforms us.
