Das Duo Keller/Thieke erforscht und verbindet unterschiedliche Strömungen der experimentellen Musik. Ihr elektroakustisches Setup schöpft aus Alt und Neu, während der natürliche Fluss der Klänge die Identität der Töne klar bewahrt. Die Musik entsteht aus Mikrotonalität, subtilen Klangfarben, Resonanzen und kontrollierten Feedbacks. Kompositionen und Improvisationen entwickeln sich langsam, lassen feine Klangnuancen und meditative Details entstehen, in denen Stille und Klang überraschend ineinandergreifen.
Ihr aktuelles Album Last Breath’s City Looks Kind Heart (Berlin 2024, Veröffentlichung Mai 2025) enthält sechs Originalstücke, die zwischen Improvisation und definierten Strukturen schweben.
Längere Töne, feine Feedbacks und subtile mikrotonale Variationen schaffen ein meditatives, tief emotionales Hörerlebnis und laden zu einer kontemplativen Reise durch die Klangtexturen ein.
Die Kritik lobt die Raffinesse und Tiefe ihrer Musik: Chain D.L.K. schreibt, das Duo erschaffe

Michael Thieke bewegt sich souverän in einem weiten musikalischen Spektrum: experimentelle Vokalformen, kollektive Kompositionsprojekte, Improvisationskollektive und Musik am Rande des Jazz. Er forscht an Klangsubtilitäten, Mikrotonalität und verwandten Phänomenen, bevorzugt langfristige Kollaborationen und kollektive Arbeit. Zu seinen aktuellen Projekten zählen u. a. Beat Keller ist ein Schweizer Musiker, der Avantgarde-Jazz, experimentelle und improvisierte Musik entwickelt. Er lebt in berlin und Winterthur und erhielt zahlreiche Preise und Stipendien von Pro Helvetia, den Kantonen Thurgau und Zürich sowie der Stadt Winterthur. Keller arbeitet mit Künstler*innen wie Joke Lanz, Axel Dörner, Shelley Hirsch, Saadet Türköz, Burkhard Beins, Christian Wallumrød, Werner Puntigam, Jason Kahn, Ute Wassermann und Cara Stacey. Er ist regelmäßig in Europa, den USA, Lateinamerika, Asien und Südafrika zu hören.

BEYER / FLINN
BEYER / FLINN is the duo of daxophonist Kriton Beyer and percussionist Stephen Flinn. Through improvisation, extended instrumental techniques, and a subtle integration of electronics, the duo explores a wide spectrum of sound, from microscopic textures and resonant acoustic detail to immersive ambient soundscapes.
Their music unfolds through attentive listening and spontaneous interaction. Daxophone, percussion, resonant objects, and occasional electronic elements combine to create evolving sonic environments in which texture, timbre, and space become central compositional forces. Fragile gestures, sustained resonances, shifting densities, and moments of near-silence are woven into forms that emerge organically in performance.
Rather than relying on predetermined structures, rhythm, or melody, BEYER / FLINN develops each piece through close engagement with the acoustic and sonic possibilities of the moment. Their work is guided by curiosity, exploration, and a shared sensitivity to sound’s physical presence. The resulting music moves fluidly between concentrated detail and expansive atmosphere, inviting listeners into a world where listening itself becomes an active experience.
Drawing on contemporary free improvisation, electroacoustic practices, and experimental sound art, BEYER / FLINN creates performances that balance precision and openness, intimacy and scale, revealing unexpected connections between sound, space, and silence.
Kriton Beyer is a Greek-German musician, composer, and improviser based in Berlin. Working primarily with the harmonium and the daxophone, he has developed a highly individual musical language that combines extended instrumental techniques, subtle electronics, and a strong focus on timbre, texture, and resonance. After studying musicology in Greece, he collaborated with leading figures of the Greek improvised music scene before relocating to Berlin in 2004, where he became deeply involved in the city’s experimental and improvised music community.
Since then, Beyer has performed throughout Europe and North America and collaborated with a wide range of internationally renowned musicians, dancers, and visual artists. He is the founder of the Fragmentation Orchestra, a member of the electroacoustic trio uproot and the ensembles Redox Reaction and FDBK EXPT, and the creator of the music software CinePrompt® for live performance and film-based improvisation. He also curates and runs the concert series and record label The Procrustean Bed, dedicated to experimental and improvised music.
Stephen Flinn is an American percussionist, composer, improviser, and educato. His work spans free improvisation, experimental music, contemporary percussion, interdisciplinary performance, and collaborative projects with dancers and artists. Characterized by a deep interest in rhythm, movement, texture, and sonic detail, his musical practice draws on a remarkably diverse background that includes studies with Alan Dawson, Bob Moses, Kenwood Dennard, Milford Graves, and Stuart Saunders Smith.
Flinn performs throughout Europe, Japan, and the United States in settings ranging from solo performances to large ensembles. Over the course of his career, he has released more than forty recordings and collaborated with an extensive range of influential artists including Cecil Taylor, Phil Minton, Maggie Nicols, Axel Dörner, William Parker, Steve Coleman, and Jaap Blonk. Alongside his work as a performer and composer, he is an author, educator, and facilitator whose research explores the connections between rhythm, communication, learning, and human interaction. His book Contemporary Urban Percussion reflects his ongoing commitment to creative exploration and interdisciplinary practice.
