The music of Nos Incogniti originates from three different creative beings who unify to become one sound. Nos Incogniti departs from the cultivation and practice of contemporary classic music, assimilates the richness of various genres (Jazz, Avant-Rock, Noise, Electronic, World Music, etc), and aspires to the spontaneity of improvisation as well as the inspiration of the moment. The result of their work is, music that is intuitive at the same time meticulously constructed.

Mercury – Freedman/Caloia

This is a duo of two Montréal musicians Nicolas Caloia (bass) and Lori Freedman (clarinet). We’ve been playing concerts in this formation for ten years now and have developed a very identifiable sound and music. In concert we improvise and we play with some pre-determied structures. In either case this music is always alive! Whether the feel is a crunchy lullaby, a muddy or hyper-speed waltz, an articulated frenzy or a convoluted blues, there is always a deliberate and transparent semblance of counterpoint with our two monodic voices.

Guillaume Gargaud is a composer and improvisational guitarist. He’s already participated about twenty albums and composed many musics for contemporary dance and movies. He has collaborated with “Conserveries Mémorielles” (Quebec) Light Cone (Paris, experimental cinema), “The Future Ethnic Comparative Research Lab” (Paris), S.Lascaux (Lecturer, University of Le Havre), “Two Sequana (Contemporary Art,Paris) F.Barabino (Buenos Aires),Marc Edwards (NY), Ben Bennett (US) Jack Wright (US), Raymond Alan Kaczynski, Mike Majkowski,(Berlin), Zachary Darrup (US) and many more. He plays “solo” in Europe and the United States. He lives in Le Havre in France where he also teaches music.

The duo explores the materiality of space by sculpting sound objects which are dynamically changing through interaction and improvisation. Subtle nuances alter the surface characteristics and boundaries of the objects, evoking a sensuous and tangible experience and creating an environment where the boundaries between the acoustic and electronic world become unclear.
By tracing the microlevel sound articulations and the through timbral explorations of acoustic and electronic intstruments, large scale forms are created where the momentary interpolates with the ever evolving.The music reflects the ephemeral, the transient state between future and past, inviting the listener to experience time as a superficial characteristic of reality.

Sascha Stadlmeier (b. 1977) has been releasing electroacoustic music with his project EMERGE on international labels such as Drone Records, Tâalem and Frozen Light since 2001. A composer working at the intersections of musique concrète, drone, and noise, he
has also been an increasingly active presence in the field of free improvisation since 2016. In addition to live electronics, his improvisation practice involves guitar, bass, and amplified objects. Collaborations with other musicians from a very wide range of styles form an important part of his work, with collaborators including If,Bwana, Doc Wör Mirran and Toy Bizarre. He has been touring Europe extensively, with concerts in France, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia, and Bulgaria. His music has been presented at many international festivals including Avantgarde Festival, lab30, 20 years of MGNM, Zasavje Noisefest, Ecological Sound of Varna Fest and Autistic Campaign Fest. While a prolific composer and performer, Stadlmeier has also created various sound installations and a radiophonic composition for West German Radio’s renowned Studio of Acoustic Art. Since 2010, his label attenuation circuit has established itself as an important hub in the international experimental music scene, with releases by more than 100 artists from numerous countries to date. attenuation circuit also regularly organises concerts of experimental music at Stadlmeier’s home base in Augsburg, Germany.

Olivier Di Placido is a french guitarist and improviser. During the years he has developed an absolutely unique approach to his instrument, being able to play it like a turntable, a synthesizer or a gamelan orchestra. Interested in discovering all the possibilities of the guitar, including the most hidden ones, Olivier has litterally invented a new and hybrid instrument, with unfixed neck and moving pick-up.
He plays all around Europe since more than ten years, collaborating with musicians and improvisers like Mario De Vega, Clare Cooper, Jassem Hindi, Mat Pogo, Arnaud Rivière, Fritz Welch, Anthea Caddy, Crank Sturgeon, SEC_ and Many Others(w/ Francesco Gregoretti),,,taking part to international festivals and shows.”(Flussi Festival, 2014)

Arnaud Rivière ( since 1974/ living in Paris) uses a rudimentary electroacoustic device built around a repaired turntable, a prepared-mixer and other primitive equipement that need manipulation – to make it brief-, Arnaud practises free improvisation, playing solo, in groups and through collaborations, since the late 90’s

Takkiduda’s Kazuhide Taji and SAORI perform in an experimental style that consists of recording various kinds of sounds in real time, then overlapping and constructing songs in total improvisation. ”Quruku” and “Ico” have been created by Kazuhide Taji through programming. They embody two people free to record and regenerate themselves, away from the will of human beings. Their participation makes Takkiduda’s music more coincidental, full of uncertainty.
We also try to create works of art through the idea of “experiencing space” by combining pictures with the sound during our performances.
We hope you will enjoy the world naturally coming out of us.
Based mainly in Tokyo, Japan, we perform at home and abroad.

HOSTILE SOUNDSCAPES, NOISY TECTONICS, DRONES AND TONES
Swiss/Swedish soundscape artist Chris Sigdell (former member of German cult industrial group Ni∂) melts the boundaries between ambient electronics and musique concréte. Since the 2005 inception of his solo project B°TONG, he has toured in 24 countries, performed at such diverse and renown festivals as Audio Art Festival (PL), Bruitisme (F), Kildemose Festivalen (DK), Lab30 (D), Les Digitales (CH), Norberg Festivalen (S), PNEM Sound Art Festival (NL), Shift (CH), Støy På Landet (N), Temple Of Silence (PL), all the while releasing acclaimed albums on genre-specific labels like Auf Abwegen, Drone Records, Reverse Alignment, Silken Tofu or Zoharum.
Besides performing with B°TONG, Chris composed and plays live the soundtrack to Vertikal – a contemporary performance piece by circus-artist Finn Jagd Andersen (Zirkus Gonzo), directed by Delia Dahinden. In a more conventional musical field he is also known as the bassist and singer in psyche-doom band the Leaden Fumes (ex-Phased). Den zu vernehmenden Gesamtsound von B°TONG lupenrein kategorisieren zu wollen, scheitert alleine an der Tatsache, dass Chris Sigdell, der Mann hinter B°TONG unzählige Stile wie Drone, Noise, Industrial, usw. in seinen Dark Ambient implantiert, wodurch letztlich nur noch von experimentellen Klangcollagen die Rede sein kann, welche sich vornehmlich in dunklen Sphären abspielen. Für die perfekte Akzentuierung sorgt eine große Auswahl von Sprach- & Tonsamples.
So ist B°TONG wie ein tiefer Brunnen, in dessen pechschwarzes Wasser Steine beinahe geräuschlos fallen. Mit unheilvollem, brodelndem Dark Ambient werden die Kreaturen von Lautréamont und Lovecraft aus der Tiefe heraufbeschworen. Das akustische Horrorkonzept ist so überzeugend, dass es dem Zuhörer eine authentische Gänsehaut beschert…..

IGNITE released their debut album “Ignition” in January 2018. The duo has toured around Europe as well as in Taiwan, Australia, US and Mexico and has done ad-hoc collaborations with other musicians as well as dancers

ZGB, das sind drei Klangtüftler und Anhänger der stürmischen Improvisation. Explosive At-tacken verbinden sich mit Phasen, in denen das Zusammenspiel sich zu neuen Klangwelten vortastet. Mit der ungewöhnlichen Kombination von Gitarre, Altsaxophon und Blockflöten er-zeugt das Trio bizarre Collagen und schockartige Umschwünge. Von “extremer und unwahr-scheinlicher Erfindung des Augenblicks” und von der “Gestaltung einer Sprache der Töne” schreibt ein italienischer Veranstalter.
ZGB steht für Zugabe. In ihren Auftritten lotet ZGB die Möglichkeiten des jeweiligen Raums aus und spielt mit den Erwartungen des Publikums. Im Februar 2015 traf sich ZGB im jurassi-schen Moutier zum ersten Mal für eine einwöchige Résidence, während der die Aufnahmen zu ‘In the cave of Plato, exit and re-entry’ entstanden. Seither ist das Trio auf Bühnen in der Schweiz, Deutschland, Österreich, Tschechien, der Slowakei, Frankreich, und Italien aufgetre-ten.

Dario Fariello
D. F. aus Neapel, derzeit in Oslo spielt das Altsaxophon energiereich, impulsiv und streut dabei lyrische Momente ein. Seine Stillen wirken so markant wie seine Ausbrüche. Unter dem Einsatz von Timbres, Mikrotönen, Materialklängen erzeugt er fragmentarische Klangbilder.
D. F. lebte lange in Berlin und baute dort die Multiversal-Reihe mit auf. Beim Zusammenführen internationaler ImprovisatorInnen beweist er immer wieder eine glückliche Hand.

Mikael Szafirowski
M. S. aus Helsinki entfaltet an der elektrischen Gitarre seine treibende Kraft. Ideenreich in-tegriert er Rock- und Jazzelemente und schöpft aus einem halluzinatorischen Kaleidoskop aus Klangfarben. Feingliedrige Tonfolgen lösen sich mit rohen Soundflächen ab.
Neben kompositorischer Tätigkeit war M. S. während Jahren in Amsterdams Impro-Szene ak-tiv. Er spielt in den Bands Naked Wolf und Rooie Waas. Unter zahlreichen Auftritten an Festivals figurieren Wien Modern und das Ottawa Jazz Festival.

Alex Riva
A.R. aus Zürich hat eine unverkennbare Spielweise auf verschiedenen Blockflöten, von der Bassblockflöte bis zum Garklein, entwickelt. Dabei integriert er Zirkuläratmung, Multiphonics, perkussive Elemente und die gleichzeitige Verwendung der Stimme zum kargen Flötenton.
Bei zahlreichen internationalen Auftritten spielte er solo oder mit anderen ImprovisatorInnen. Darüber hinaus arbeitete A.R. mit bildenden KünstlerInnen, TänzerInnen und Filmschaffenden zusammen.

TRIPES

Throughout the years and after going themselves through trance-like experiences, the trio TRIPES has developed a music based on extended forms built on endless repetitions of patterns.
Often compared to The Necks, TRIPES could be defined as a « Contemporary Acoustic Trance Music » combo.
A wide-range of textures are expanded slowly and shaped by the breathing of the three musicians, leading to a meditative state of listening.
The regular and progressive beats, as well as the stripped-down melodies slowly modify the perception of time of the listener and therefore encourage a modified state of consciousness.
Then comes the rhythmic acceleration and the unstoppable ascent of tension, increased by the musicians’ voices.
Some might experience sadness or unbearable tension, others abandon themselves into blissful feelings and unexpected relief.

Now Sports

Die Musik der in Graz ansässigen Band spannt einen Bogen von Noise-lastiger elektronischer Klangerzeugung über träge Hip-Hop-Beats bis hin zu Erinnerungen an ein Kinderlied. Einflüsse von Freejazz und Trashmetal von Gitarrist Michl Laab treffen auf weite Räume und sphärische Flächen eines Modularsynthesizer, der sich mitunter auf minimalistische Strukturen zurückzieht. Bedient wird das Instrument von Richie Herbst, der auch dichtem Breakbeatgewirr Klänge beisteuert, die sich scheinbar auflösen und doch existieren. Reas am E-Bass erzeugt Sounds, die sowohl als „Bass“ funktionieren, als auch durch verschiedene Effekte verfremdete Klangwelten ausloten. Hythmisch versetzte Loops von Gitarre und Bass, die sich überschneiden und durchdringen, lassen Patterns entstehen, die stützen und verführen. Ergänzt wird das Trio von der Sängerin Alexandra Stessl, und debütiert somit das erste mal, live, als Quartet.
